Our Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health course is suitable for everyone. It provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a range of suspected mental health conditions, the skills to start a supportive conversation and when/how to signpost a person towards professional help.
Candidates will learn how to recognise and manage stress. Learners will not be able to diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals but they will gain the knowledge to identify when someone may have a condition and guide them to the appropriate help.

It is recommended that every employee in the workplace is qualified in this course. The qualification is valid for 3 years but candidates are strongly recommended to attend annual refresher training. The minimum age to attend this course is 14 and will run for approximately 4 hours.
Learners must successfully pass a written assessment paper to achieve the Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health qualification.

Our Supervising First Aid for Mental Health course will essentially cover the content from the First Aid for Mental Health course in addition to being able to describe the support and therapy provided by professional health care providers as well as describe the characteristics, including signs and/or symptoms, of various mental health conditions.
